Our History

Mt. Edgecumbe Preschool was incorporated in 1976 by a group of passionate parents. At the time, child care was only available in a limited number of home settings. The parents organized together, paid a monthly fee to support a director and contributed 1-2 days per month as parent class helpers. This began the long history of providing Sitka children a rich early learning experience and a place parents could count on while they worked.

The preschool continues to support families in providing a nurturing
environment to learn, grow & explore.

Mt. Edgecumbe Preschool serves approximately 50 children each year.
